Japan has so many beautiful places beyond the popular tourist spots. I love discovering hidden destinations that show a more peaceful and authentic side of a country. Definitely adding more of these places to my travel bucket list.

nagano Mornings looked exactly like this when I thaught English there for a year!! we used to hike up to a tiny shrine before School some days when the mist was still stiing in the valley!! I still have the wooden charm from that shrine somewhere in my desk and I havent looked at in in ages!! Really makes me want to plan a trip back before too much more time passes

The most striking story is that of Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island—a place considered so sacred that, at one time, no births or deaths were permitted there in order to preserve absolute purity. The red Torii gate, appearing to float on the water at high tide, creates a truly mystical sight.
Had no idea women weren’t allowed to climb Mt. Fuji until 1872, or that samurai planted all those cherry trees in Takato to keep the history alive. The detail in this video is incredible. Is Shirakawa-go as peaceful in person as it looks here?
