Traveling alone is just less fun as traveling together with someone. I know, I have done iboth kind many times.
Do you have a Camera that you would recommend to Vlog the trip? I am going backpacking Europe in August.
Lesson #2 is the big one 👍
I am planning my first solo trip, and it’s going to be to North America. And dang, I am procrastinating on the planning, it feels like a big monster in my head, all the stuff that needs to be prepared, all the things I need to find out about all the different choices that I must evaluate. That fear that tells me, “it’s safer and easier to just not do anything that big.” But it’s only fear, it’s not real, and letting years pass will not make it any less scary. So just do it!
You're amazing! This video was just what I needed – thank you for the words of wisdom and encouragement. Going on my first solo trip in a couple of weeks!
Thank you ❤
Thanks for making this video. I’m 27, and after spending the past few years working a regular 9-to-5 job, I finally decided to take a break and go backpacking through South America.
My family has been really supportive overall, but they’re understandably a bit worried about me traveling solo for several months. Recently, they suggested using a location-sharing app.
I was wondering if you’ve found any better alternatives or personal ways to stay connected with family while still keeping some sense of privacy and independence while traveling.
Thanks in advance, and wishing you all the best on your future travels!

"So relatable! I actually made a guide specifically for women traveling solo — everything from safety to planning. Happy to share the link if you're interested 🙂"
❤
I’m so happy that I’m doing it solo, I worry too much though that I won’t wake up for a planned tour or I will miss the train I have scheduled. Like, my alarm won’t go off. I’m 65 and the alone part has been amazing, so much joy. It is building confidence being outside my comfort zone for sure and having to use Google Translate a lot. I’m in it now…for two weeks. Thank you for this video.
Thanks for this video. I will be traveling solo for the first time in July 2026. I am 49 and in the midst of a divorce after 28 years of marriage (her choice). She is taking the kids to visit her family for 3 weeks in July, without me…for the first time. I have chosen to embark on a solo Europe trip instead of sitting home by myself…to (Switzerland, Italy (Rome), Split and Dubrovnik (Croatia) – this is my first time being out of the US and traveling alone. I am a little nervous…but also excited.
Thanks for this video. I tend to obsess over very minor things, such as the idea of travelling through an airport or taking public transport for no real reason! Hearing your honesty and positivity has really helped to change my mindset from overly negative to hopeful 😁
Vow women ssly need to travel solo in the world to find yourself and she said it correctly that you become unstoppable after a solo trip ! Vow would love to travel solo , don’t know when life will give me the opportunity!
Ssly don’t get married in life ❤
As a person who’s never traveled im about to go explore the world I’ve lived in Northern Ireland for 24 years and Soon flying to Lanzarote I have a job lined up there for me so I’m going to explore n work for 3 months before going to the Netherlands and finding work and to fund exploring and keep doing this throughout Europe I want to see what the world has to offer an thought Europe is a good place to start and save before going to Asian country’s I have no idea what I’m doing but I’ll learn 🤣
That happened to me in St Ives in Cornwall. I slipped on some moss while I was saying how happy I was and busted my knee up but got up and carried on still smiling.
I travel solo because of one particularly obvious reason: it's expensive. If my friends are willing to shell out a lot of cash to join me, that's fine. Though for the most part, I go solo if they don't want to join.
If you travel alone you have so much more freedom and you don´t have any mask! I feel like when you travel with friends you often behave in a certain way and can´t really be free. And you hang out with them so you don´t meet new people.
I had uterine cancer 5 years ago and since I have always loved travel, I made up my mind to travel. My husband doesn't like to travel and I had summers off (professor) so I decided I would spend the summers traveling. It was a little scary the first time as I am a senior but I do speak fluent Spanish so the first summer I spent mostly in Spain and Portugal with a couple of weeks in Egypt, Morocco, and Andorra. I love your advice and enthusiasm. Don't wait until "some day" when conditions are right to go travel. If I can do this as a 68 year old, anyone can do it. I love this quote from Rick Steves, "Fear is for those who don't get out much". The world is a beautiful place full of mostly very nice people so make those memories!
your words resonated so much with me! just booked my own solo adventure for later this summer! i’m very scared but this helped me wanna push through..
A very good series of suggestions.
I've done many alone trips.
Anyone 'old' reading this ? Go for it ! ( I;m 84)
Omgod. The crying out of fear and excitement in the same time is so real! I’m preparing for my solo trip in June, wish me luck ❤
Thank you 🙂 definitely going bpacking again. Was so nervous cause I have a labby but she can be my extra joy. You’re right I think it’s justifying life as everyone is.
I’m going to Italy this October for the first time ever, and also first solo trip. I’m socially anxious and pretty shy but.. gotta do it 😅🙃
