On my September tour of Japan the weather was incredibly hot and I was glad for the street drink vending machines everywhere. I wish we could have those where I come from but they would be graffiti'ed and smashed open by street people and hoodlums.

I just came home from a 2 week trip to Japan.
The local guide (Mika-san) my group had when we were in Kyoto and Osaka was from Nara.
Oh, aand I am SO much going to miss those vending machines! The prices of the drinks were about half of what you would expect to pay for a ½L bottle here in Denmark. I fell in love with Calpis, and have found a web shop here in Denmark that sells the original Asahi concentrate syrup (470ml bottle). The price will be about double of that from a Japanese vending machine though.
