I have been to shillong last month, its true that we have heard a lot about shillong but its not that good from my aspect. Shillong must be green and covered with mountains all around but that doesnt make it the best. Shillong is just like a normal hill station. There is nothing to be excited about shillong. There are hardly any attractive place except the city seeing point. The hotels too are not that worth they are way too expensive and the food too is very bad in taste and unhygienic. But a place near shillong named Cheerapunji is very satisfying. Shillong doesnt have good travel accommodation airport is very far. The security for tourists at shillong is not doubtable. Shillomg city has got only 7 tourist place which will take hardly 4-5 hours to visit all because they are not very great and attractive tourist place. I will recommend to visit only Lady Hydari Park and a Cathedral Church in Shillong. Hotels in Shillong are costly and the hotels are also not worth of your money. The service of most of the hotels are also not good. The crime rate of Shillong is very less but there is no loss in taking precautions becuase you can not trust every people. There is nothing extraordinary to visits. Just a small town with mountains. Fooding and lodging is very costly. I only recomend this place to those who have never seen any hill station cost of living is very high in shillong.and we cannot find anything that cost below Rs 5 to stay for 1 night the hotels charge minimally around 1000 bucks n even more than that the food in the hotels are just okay and cost very high.the cab drivers charge very high for new passengers and u might also be fooled if u r not previously aware of the actual charge.😊The place is no doubt beautiful but I advise stay away from locals. They bullied us into paying fine for videos when I just had a still camera. I payed the camera fees like everyone. The locals misbehaved and snatched the car keys from us . Take care
