Illiterate American who clearly cannot pronounce words properly. They're pronounced as follows: Mallorca – Mayorka, Ibiza – Ibeetha, Lanzarote – Lanzarotay, archipelago – arkeepelago,
The presenter's rendering of archipelago is joke. More than just stressed syllable differences. Machine reading or simply ignorant American? The rendering of for example city names can be somewhat arbitrary, but obviously one must be cautious in accepting news channel and YouTube pronunciation. Goes straight to the debate on using local and Anglo rendering. Take "Paris" and "Rome" as examples.
