What travel vest do you like/recommend?
Love the pose of your son in the video! Gotta love teenagers!
Thanks! Great info! Question: Do you have to pack the neck pillow when going through security or can you carry it loose?
I ❤ the airplane pocket for the tray table. The pocket is wonderful to avoid using the airplane pocket. Plus almost impossible to leave something behind.
I wear my backpack on my front. Toss it into seat, put roller in overhead in and then put that in my lap to organize and clean
I keep a "fanny pack" in my personal item where I keep all the things I use throughout the flight like charging cable, earbuds, hand lotion, chapstick, etc., and hang it from the "legs" of the tray table so I don't have to keep reaching down to my bag under the seat.
It doesn't take up any floor space and I don't leave anything behind in the seat back pocket. Besides, those seat back pockets are gross.
I have an older version of the airplane pocket organizer (2020). Could you let me know how the updated version is different?
i am a window seat person. In addition to the 3 areas you wipe down, I also wipe down the touch screen on seat back and the window visor handles. Wet ones makes individually packaged wipes that I keep in my back pack to use if the airline doesn't have a basket of wipes when I board (ps. I'm a Houston/United gal)
Do they allow you to wear a cross body on you during the flight ?
You taught me something about my Nomad Land Bento bag! I didn't see that little hidden pocket on it! Thanks
What about often advertised Foldie bag? Have you done a
Video about those ?
And thank you for such good videos ! I’ve found them so helpful !
Thanks for the tips!!
I'm confused, if I wear a vest with pockets for my phone, passport, etc. can I just put my vest in a bin, or do I still have to take the items out induvidually?
The trt neck pillow really put my neck out badly. I do love your videos, thank you
Don’t forget to wipe the back of the seat in front of you where the table touches when it’s stowed.
On long haul, I take an empty pillow case. I pop my anorak into it. It makes a great pillow and stops it sliding around.
Caviwipes – individually wrapped are good too. They are used in hospitals. They are extra large and sturdy 10×12.
I just need a book (or Kindle), my phone with charging cable, my eyeglasses & a water bottle. I usually have a backpack which has my purse in it (with drugs, the items I've already mentioned, and other things I could need in flight) and I put that under my seat and the backpack goes into the overhead.
If I'm flying business, which I always try to do if the flight is over 6 hours, I don't even need the water bottle. The business amenitites kit has hand lotion, lip balm & a few other things that might come in handy.
I much prefer a paper boarding pass –
I can't believe when I see mostly young women come on board in short shorts and midriffs. Those seats are NOT cleaned regularly and there could be ANYTHING on there– spilled drinks, urine (I am not kidding), sweat. Yuck! Also NEVER go into the bathrooms without shoes on your feet… 'nuff said. I've flown many international flights and they get COLD. Dress in layers. A jacket with lots of pockets gives you another space to carry things!
I write my seat number on my wrist (above where I wash my hands). It falls right out of my brain no matter how many times I check my boarding pass.
I wear my backpack on my chest when boarding. I can keep it from hitting anyone, no one can unzip pockets without me knowing, and then I easily drop it in my seat while stowing my carry on in the overhead.
Clothing layers! Then add and subtract based on temperature. Sleeveless top, zip up hoodie, pants. For coat, I have fleece jacket and overtop I put a waterproof windbreaker. I can also add my hoodie for another layer of warmth. I rarely travel with my parka unless going to Mongolia or Siberia in winter. I carry disposable food service gloves. I wear them to the bathroom, in the bathroom, and dispose of them in my seat trash bag. There are too many germs in the plane and public bathrooms! I also fly in/out of developing countries a lot where diarrheal illnesses are endemic. Hand sanitizer isn't always effective. I also carry mosquito repellent and a headset because mosquitoes love me and some airports have mosquitoes inside the airport! There is a moisturizing nasal gel sold over the counter which helps on long flights.
Why would you "need" jewelry" for the end of a flight?
I have the tray table organizer and I added yellow snaps to each pocket so I can pack my flight essentials, snap each pocket, roll it, put in a small plastic grocery bag, put on top of my underseat bag and as I am following folks to my seat, whip it out and have it ready to put on my tray quickly. The snaps keep everything from falling out. You can buy the ones to sew on or snap on like grommets.
Another item I clean is sanitizer on a quip and clean the air vent then call button.
Sanitizer wipe the window & cover if in window seat.
Keep a section of painting drop cloth to cover my seat after sitting in a seat that had been wet from previous passenger! So thankful I packed extra clothes and wipes in carry on to change!
Seat back pocket is the best. I leave it filled and that’s my “essentials”. Nothing, but nothing goes in seat back pocket or on my lap. No chance earphones or phone can slip down.
You’re funny thinking the airlines pay attention to how many bags people bring on. I’ve seen people bring suitcases, a duffle bag and a huge “personal” bag. I’ve seen backpacks, suitcases and a second clothes type bag. I have to admit I get upset because I always check my larger suitcase and just have a narrow backpack on the plane. I hope the airlines make the changes they promise in 2026.
I fly from Wisconsin to Arizona twice a year… I fly Southwest… I try to follow your tips to a T… Your so good at explaining and showing your tips. You have helped me greatly…
I clean the headrest and the screen on the seat with the tray.
Pam here…my phone, my ID’s, CC’s, Passport, some cash, are ON my body at ALL times in a flight. I will never put my phone or those things in a carryon at my feet or up in the stowed space. NEVER. I have a Badolier Cross body phone holder that I have a pouch for some CC’s, My passport is in a Zipped pocket in my travel vest…which I DO NOT TAKE OFF. The things that are the MOST difficult to lose or replace stay with or ON me.
For a time, I was flying short trips back and forth frequently and a flight attendant was grabbing a spare seat to go home. I was on the aisle, moved over to the center, and she was shocked that I did that. We had a great chat all the way back home!
