You can't run from yourself.
Thankfully, your boredom became your saviour.
Damn, let me have $20
Travelling is not for everybody
"Wherever you go, there you are" <— Dr. Seus. This is what I see with everyone blowing THOUSANDS on the whole "Van life BRO!" and coming to Moab. I blame a few things: 1- family breakup/trauma/unresolved. 2- existential nihilism "dude bro I don't need any god to tell me how to live bro, cuz I wanna BE GOD myself dude bro/bruh/bro!" 3-Ontological disaster / conformity – everyone raised in westernized countries have been nudged/pushed/taught to "just fit in BRO!" "Just do whatever everyone else is doing BRO!" etc… Thus why you find few taking real creative risks/self reflection/discovery – as – most are trapped back in a time when their parents divorced, etc <—– Until people forgive/heal – they cannot make ACCURATE choices – but – most don't choose to do so – and then instead sit around wondering why they cannot find a decent girl.
There are other factors – how now they wanna control everything by selling you/others on fake existential threats – using both "lockstep" and "Clever together" <—- force/conformity/fear… Last thing the BETA Males with all the cards want are: Free thinking/creative individuals who don't need a stupid Tesla / F150 / conformist material/$$$ in order to find meaning via principles. This is why only sellouts accel in corporations/gov't jobs – the unhealed narcissist's of the world.
I want to travel because I’m intrigued by the variety of lifestyle, food choices, arts, crafts. I’ve experienced anything I’m interested in within 2 hours of my home. I want to explore and learn.
This reminds me of the quote “wherever you go, there you are”
Great stuff! Your lucky it only took through your 20s. I was well into my 30s before i figured it out
After travelling around a bit like this guy David here in my younger years, I have discovered similarly that travelling can be an over rated activity and its a pleasant surprise to find peace may not be on your doorstep but just up and around the corner from where you started !
Try South East Asia!!!!
You sound like somebody that’s spiritual, but has no idea who you actually are
Everywhere you go. There you are
Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I was in the same cycle and it had a negative impact on my life. I travelled for more than 10 years and it became so hard to go back to normal. I got severe anxiety and depression and just needed a structure in my daily life. The first 2 years of travelling were amazing but the happiness faded and it became normal for me. All the magic was gone and I couldnt keep the same amount of bliss as before. Once i stayed at places longer than 3 months i felt this urge to move on. So i tried to find new places in order to find happiness over and over again. Thats the trap.
It took me many years until I realized that the journey has to be an inner one. But now all these years have changed me and I cannot really relate to normal things in society anymore. All I want is to belomng and to feel normal.
Problem is you traveled west when you should have traveled east
love your warm advice at the end

Because you don’t truly have free will. That is the world we created. Because others ideas are projected on us since we were kids. You leaving was is discovering yourself lol because you were not truly you its human purpose and we will always have it in our minds even if its not priority
Its all the same earth rock shit and dirt all people are people just diffrent rules, laws, morals, and traditions not for me
Traveling sucks end of discussion. It is a waist of time and resources.
To those who resonate with this guy, I recommend exploring 'Pensées' by Pascal and Schopenhauer's philosophical take on boredom. While Pascal's work is rooted in Christian thought and Schopenhauer's in atheism, both philosophers offer theories on the human experience of boredom. In short, their's answers is that our feelings of emptiness and discontent stem from an unfulfillable desire for meaning and purpose in life. To Schopenhauer, life is inherently absurd and lacking in inherent purpose. Some individuals find temporary distractions – whether through faith, travel, or other pursuits. Maybe that's the best course for you to take, until eventually you die. I hope this helps 🙂
Why traveling for the wrong reasons ruined your life. Its refreshing to see what you learned❤ thanks for sharing…
I get more excited when I visit places in video games as opposed to in real life.
I healed my traumatized home and parents with myself ( almost). Then decided to travel the world gradually at the age of 32
True happiness lies with us not with the places that we go. A lot of people feel that travelling will alleviate their issues but many times travelling will just exacerbate the issues within.
True
after traveling to 18 countries i can honestly say traveling is overrated. it is inconvenient, uncomfortable, boring and lonely.
People who travel too much, are afraid to face themselves. 😮🎉 Many adults travel and such miserable and unhappy, i have these experiences people around me. I am happier without travelling and they just chase the miles. 😢 Sad to see, yet they feel special, and share photos. Poor people they just need a big hug and maybe a reeses 🎉
