Thanks for the support everyone. There was a lot of internal conflict for me leading up to, during, and after my time in Afghanistan. I didn’t want to go there and make light out of the situation that the people are living under. But I also wanted to bring as much joy as I could out of my time there. It’s hard to explain. Idk.
If you’d like to follow the route of this series: I started in Mazar E Sharif. By the end of this video I make it to a town called Dara I Suf. After this town, the road basically becomes non existent. So be sure to come back for the next vids.
Love u lots x
If theafes is okay ✨✨✨✨✨✨
16:20 pretty sure the Afghan people are really serious about hospitality, from memory that’s how that lone surviver survived, the people of the village came to his defence because he was considered a guest and they must protect those welcomed as guests into their homes
Naaa the poor man, you gotta take that bread
Shoutout to Abdul the truck driver, too. Man gave you his own knife to keep you safe.
Abdul Malik was one of the GOATs of this journey lol
I spent some time in Meymana and I travelled a lot of the middle east, I never found more welcoming people than the afghans. They would offer their last scrap of food, a bed for the night, and then rise at 4am and hit the fields to work with their 10 year old sons. An amazing and hardy people.
This is soo awesome but keeps you on edge i love it
listen man raw dogging a lone wolf trip to afghanistan has got to require a pair of titaniums. props brother
This our religion bro teach if the person is quest you have welcome it
Welcome to Afghanistan. The people of Afghanistan are kind and hospitable.
Well, some of the people might be nice and helpful, but I still think, it's a pretty scary country… Especially when you consider how women are treated there. Even in the whole video no woman in sight. Do they have to be locked inside all the time? Creepy.
I…. I don't know what to say. I think we have a perception of Afgan people from the media, but wow, these people seem to be the most hospital people I have ever seen. They seem to want to give and not receive anything in return, it is simply amazing and melts my heart. What a truly amazing sigh of humanity. I can't say what they do to their women as I am not seeing that aspect, but to outsiders, they seem like really good people and I would accept them anytime to my home.
gotta say assalem allaykem eveywhere
The knife was such a good gift I’m Mexican and we always give something. I find it very endearing I hope the women of Afghanistan will one day live freely alongside the men
❤ your videos Mike and most of all, your brotherly love!
While this video showed true human connection and care and compassion for others. Although this is amazing, I can’t help but notice there wasn’t a single woman anywhere at all in the video. It feels like such a juxtaposition.
Mike is proof that governments suck but normal every day people are almost always awesome!
soo… a goatblock?
I'm a month late because I like to binge, but I believe the gun symbols may have been his way of saying "thief" that the others warned about before, only because he showed his cash right afterward. but his body language was as if he shrugged it off like "those dumb children with guns" or something. what a beast Afghan Robert Downey Jr. is.
On the taliban talk. The U.S. tried to nation build and confiscate opium, hence the opiate crisis in the early 2000s. What the U.S. had done, being undone in hours is untrue. There was always taliban presence, theyre numbers probably qual if not quantify the amount of U.S. military personell, but the U.S. wouldn't want you to know this because we're the "strongest" force. I spent months guarding a known drug trafficking route. Only stopping petty drug smugglers. Almost an entire tour making arrests and releases while confiscating and shipping large amounts of "evidence" back. Now, places like Kabul again almost always had taliban presence, they were there at the airport the day we left, this is why the U.S. decommissioned multiple aircraft. We couldnt dare let the taliban have black Hawks with missiles. So we left some humvees, even a couple tanks but destroyed all the valuables. These were gifts to be left to the Afghan defense force, but had to be destroyed before leaving, because they were already returning land to taliban control. If you want the honest truth, the United States would lose an all out 1 winner war with the taliban. No questions asked, no goofy what ifs, plain and simple, the taliban are in every country around the world and if called upon one location would show and the U.S. wouldn't even begin to hold a defense.
