You're better off paying a new sim in destination country why pay $5 or $10 roaming plus usage

Data is not voice calling, when traveling what is the best way to get voice calling abroad using your phone from home?

I use a global coverage data only esim like Airalo. Works in 137 countries. I can also use left over data in my home country. I only pay $5 monthly for my local home country carrier. I use the global esim for my data even in my home country since my local carrier plan only includes 200mb of data.

I think it's easy to forget that most plans and current phones allow for wificalling! As I understand, you put phone in airplane mode, turn off roaming, then can call text, and receive texts and calls from US if you have wifi access. I know doesn't solve making calls, but in my case, calling texting home is most Importent. Cost =0.

We are not ATT fans, but we are customers.

You have mis-represented the ATT plan.
Since you have recorded this the plan is now $13/day, but you fail to state that there is a monthly cap on the plan – it is most certainly not $13/day forever.

We have used the ATT international plan all over the world – even in extremely rural Tanzania.
Just turn your phone on when you arrive – no issues.

Currently in Cuba visiting my grandma and I’ve been coming here for 17 years and I’m 21 and this is the first time I’ve ever questioned international lines because Ive always gotten services automatically here and i get the area code so I can call and messages to the u.s and here in Cuba. I was very curious of the possibilities of thing you can do with international service even though I’ve experienced the stuff

just an update for AT&T. There is a limit of charging you for international day pass. After 10 days, you will no longer be charged any more then that. I recently called AT&T and they said that even with 2 devices, we will only pay $120 for both phones…for the month.
