As a Puerto rican full and through, let me make these more specific… 1. Drivers are their own thing, they will drive however and youre expected to deal with it, I mean running reds when police arent around, cutting through traffic, ignoring cones, tailing police, it can be dangerous and look out for potholes, theres ALOT.
2. Weather is the islands emotion, well thats what my family likes to think. In Puerto rico, in the span of 10 minutes you can experience heavy cold rain to. warm sunny beams of humid light, if you really want to take in the island, dont bring an umbrella, its fun getting wet then drying off in seconds. and yes, you can drive from a rain storm, its usually small patches of rain. ALSO! the beach gets windy, you will get itchy hurty ankles from the sand being pushed at you.
3. the island is small, but there is so much to see. If you want to keep it cheap, heres what i reccomend; San Juan, walking around the stores and finding stray cats its so fun, sometimes i have a goal for cats to pet in my stay time duration. Get piragua, make sure the vendor looks puerto rican, it might be hard since there are so many ways a boricua can look, from Green eyed pale skinned to gleaming hazel eyes and dark curls, it can get confusing, but after a while you will know. Also, they take advantage of tourists sometimes.. Visit the pigeon park, youre expected to buy bird seed to get them to come to you, but if youre lucky and patient, they might just latch on to your arms. go to san patricio, its a nice mall to visit in general. Go to ocean park!! you might see a leatherback turtle (might)!!
In my opinion the drivers aren't noticeably more aggressive than drivers in the midwestern U.S. I feel like driving there was pretty comfortable for me personally. It was only once in a while mostly on the back roads that I saw some you know kind of a more aggressive than usual Behavior driving but on the main roads and the highways it was pretty normal
Why you wanna go to every single place of PR because thereβs some dangerous places like that donβt even if weβre there if you do make sure you like your phone or you gonna get in big trouble and second of all there could be police there so make sure to not go in there do not go in some places because they could kill you like make sure the place is safe But never gonna be so be careful and do not have expensive stuff on you
